Full Description:
This is a beautiful solid brass reproduction of a nautical sextant used on the famous R.M.S. Titanic.  Only 50 of these limited edition R.M.S. Titanic ring-frame sextants have been made, and each one has a unique serial number.  This is a full-sized solid brass sextant with an antique patina finish.  It features adjustable mirrors and four swing-arm filters in heavy mounts.  The Rack and Pinion design has an adjustment knob that drives a pinion gear against machined teeth on the limb of the sextant to allow fine adjustment of the inclination angle.  A built-in magnifier can be swung into position to assist in reading the German Silver vernier scale.  The index mirror can be adjusted using a convenient brass knurled screw on the top of the sextant, and the horizon mirror has a thumbscrew adjustment on the back of the sextant.  The telescope has polished glass lenses and can be focused to produce a sharp magnified erect image.  This reproduction sextant is fully functional but not intended for navigation.  The hardwood handle on the back of the sextant is marked "R.M.S. Titanic Six Inch Nautical Sextant" and has the unique engraved serial number.  The sextant measures 8 inches (20.3 cm) tall, 8 1/4 inches (21 cm) wide, 3 3/4 inches (9.5 cm) deep, and weighs 2 pounds, 10 ounces (1.2 kg).

The sextant comes with a beautiful velvet lined hardwood storage and display box that has fitted cut-outs to securely hold the sextant.  The front of the hardwood case has a handle and a unique front rotary clasp.  The joinery on the case are all "Box" or "Finger" joints.  Custom brass plaques are available for the outside of the case, inside the lid, or both.  The case measures 9 3/4 inches (25 cm) square and 5 3/8 inches (13.7 cm) tall, and weighs 4 pounds, 6 ounces (2.0 kg).  The outside of the box has a solid brass plaque engraved "RMS Titanic, White Star Line, Nautical Sextant" with the matching serial number.  The R.M.S. Titanic, White Star Line Limited Release Serialized 6-inch Antique Patina Brass Sextant with Hardwood Case comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.
