The Stanley London® Prismatic Stand Compass is a reproduction of an antique small Prismatic compass mounted
on a stand.
Simultaneous viewing of the object being sighted and its magnetic heading is facilitated by the prism.
The hinged brass lid has a replaceable sighting thread, which flips up to expose the compass.
The prism is hinged as well and can be rotated up for use as a front sight.
It also allows you to view the compass heading without averting your gaze.
Reverse mirror image printing on the compass rose reads properly when viewed though the prism.
The magnetic heading appears under the object being sighted when making a heading measurement.
The height of the prism can be precisely set by the manipulation of the adjustment screws.
When being transported, the compass jewel is protected by a needle lift mechanism that is operated with a thumbscrew on the
bottom of the compass.
The brass compass card reads "T. Cooke London."
The base of the compass unscrews to expose standard 1/4-20 threads to allow mounting the compass on a tripod.
The compass lid is 2 1/16 inches (5.2 cm) in diameter, stands 2 1/2 inches (6.4 cm) tall, and weighs 7 1/2 ounces
(215 grams).
This compass is beautifully crafted from solid brass, and polished to a mirror-like shine.
The built-in stand makes this Prismatic Compass a perfect desk accessory.
The Prismatic Stand Compass is offered at only $39.
