Full Description:
The German C. Plath sextant is regarded as the "Rolls Royce" of nautical sextants.  This Stanley London® premium quality 6 1/2 inch (16.5 cm) radius sextant is a beautiful full scale reproduction of the venerable C. Plath micrometer drum brass sextant.  Each sextant has a unique serial number stamped on the handle.  The sextant measures 9 1/4 inches (23.5 cm) wide and 9 3/8 inches (23.8 cm) tall, and 5 inches (12.7 cm) deep (not including the telescope).  The sextant weighs 5 pounds, 6 ounces (2.4 kg), and the sextant with the hardwood case weighs 8.9 pounds (4 kg).  There are six swing-arm filters mounted on thick brass filter mounts.  The telescope has a large objective lens and produces a very bright and clear erect image.  There are a pair of levers that when squeezed, pull the micrometer pinion away from the ground rack, allowing fast large angular movements of the index arm.  The sextant is shipped with the mirrors correctly adjusted, and further adjustments can be made using three inset adjustment screws.  The limb on the sextant is engraved "Stanley London."  On the back of the sextant is a hardwood handle.  While this sextant is fully functional, it does not come with a certificate of calibration and is not intended for navigation.  The sextant comes with a beautiful felt-lined hardwood case which weighs 3 pounds 8 ounces(1.6 kg).  The case has front clasps and a handle.  Custom brass plaques are available for the case.
