This is a beautiful solid brass antique reproduction of a sundial with an internal magnetic compass.
The top of the sundial is hinged and a curved scale is used to set your local latitude angle.
The magnetic compass allows the sundial to be oriented North.
The compass features a needle lift mechanism to protect the compass's jeweled bearing when being transported.
There are three adjustable legs that are used to precisely level the sundial.
The sun's shadow cast by the sundial's vane marks the local time.
The top of the sundial can lay down flat, and both the latitude scale and the sundial vane
are hinged to lay flat for compact storage.
The sundial measures 3 1/4 inches (8.3 cm) wide, 3 inches (7.6 cm) tall, 1 1/8 inches (2.9 cm) tall when
collapsed, the body of the compass is 1 3/4 inches (4.4 cm) in diameter, and the sundial weighs 5.3 ounces

The sundial is capable of being oriented North by using the magnetic compass.
The top of the sundial is hinged and a curved scale is used to set your local latitude angle.
Local time can be determined by looking at the shadow of the sun cast by the sundial's vane.
A needle lift mechanism protects the jeweled bearing of the compass during transport.
For compact storage, the top of the sundial can lay down flat, and both the latitude scale and the sundial vane
are hinged to lay flat.
The sundial measures a maximum of 2 7/8 inches (7.0 cm) tall, 7/8 inches (2.3 cm) tall when collapsed,
the body of the compass is 2 1/2 inches (6.4 cm) in diameter, and the sundial weighs 4.5 ounces (128 grams).
