This is a fine reproduction of the French Model 1831 Artillery Sword that was used throughout the
19th century.
The sword's Neo-classical design is based on the Roman Gladius sword and was nicknamed the "cabbage-cutter,"
as it was found to be a very useful tool in addition to its role as a weapon.
The French Artillery Sword has a polished solid brass grip and a high carbon steel blade.
The highly polished blade measures 19 1/2 inches (49.5 cm) long and 1 3/4 inches (4.4 cm) wide at the hilt
(where the blade and grip meet).
Overall, the sword is 25 inches (63.5 cm) long and weighs 2 pounds 2 ounces (964 grams).
We have custom engraving available on the blade of the sword with up to four lines of text.
When ordering, please specify the desired location and orientation of your personalized text in the special
instructions box.
The sword cannot be shipped with a sharpened blade, although you can easily sharpen the blade yourself.
Included with the sword is a 100 percent genuine leather scabbard complete with brass accents on the tip and throat.
The scabbard weighs an additional 8 ounces (227 grams).
The French Artillery Sword with leather and brass scabbard sells for $95.
