Full Description:
The Stanley London® Clinometer Compass is a solid brass reproduction of a Clinometer pocket transit.  This compass can determine both the magnetic heading of an object, as well as its angle of elevation or declination.  A pendulous arm beneath the compass needle can read the angle in degrees of elevation or declination.  The interior of the compass lid has a mirror with a round sighting window.  A front sight folds up, and the window in the lid has a scribed line to serve as a rear sight.  The compass rose is marked in degrees and has the original old markings.  The letter "O" is commonly used to abbreviate "West" in the southern hemisphere.  The inclination scale is printed mirror imaged so that when taking a elevation or declination measurement, the lid can be placed in the 45 degree position, and the angle can be read while simultaneously viewing the object.  The compass has a needle lift mechanism to protect the compass jewel and the pendulous arm when being transported.  The compass can fit in a pocket, and measures 3 inches (7.6 cm) in diameter, 1 3/8 inches (3.5 cm) thick, and weighs 14 1/4 ounces (404 grams).  The Clinometer Compass is beautifully polished to a high luster.  The back of this compass can be custom engraved with a personalized inscription.

Accessories:
A solid brass pocket compass chain measuring 14 inches (35.5 cm) overall and weighing 1.1 ounces (31 grams) is an option for your compass.  The chain has a clasp on both ends for attachment.

Additionally, an optional "Stanley London" embossed leather carrying case with rear belt loop can be purchased.

An optional hardwood case that features a handsome inlaid compass rose is available for storage and display as well.  Each compass rose is unique and will have slight variations since they will be inlaid using similar hand tools to those used 200 years ago.  The Large Hardwood Case with Hand Inlaid Compass Rose is 2 1/4 inches (5.7 cm) tall with the lid closed, 4 inches (10.2 cm) square, and weighs 7.5 ounces (213 grams).  This case can be ordered with a custom solid brass plaque to be mounted on the front and/or inside lid of the box.
